Genre Stills

Performance- For performance I added an overlay which turned it upside down to make it seem we were in a puddle. I did this to explore the different overlays that Final Cut Pro had to offer. I then cropped each picture and split screened them next to each other to make it seem as if we were singing in a group together. This therefore shows the performance genre as we were all holding the microphone. I think to help this blend better would to learn about how to edit the lighting, saturation, exposure etc. on the pictures and clips as in the part of the clip the edit is not professional at all.

Narrative- In this part of the clip I have only added a caption because I think the narrative needs to be simple, maybe fun depending on the story. I think that the text would need to generally need to be simpler but again, I wanted to see what interesting and bright coloured text boxes the editor had.

Image- For Image I have tuned down the saturation for the image. I think that doing this makes more emotion, possibly somewhat sad. I have also turned down the exposure, making it darker. At the end of the clip I have added a transition to some extra edited clips. I think I will explore making the saturation higher slightly and making the image brighter; however this obviously depends on how we want to edit the video.

In the last two pictures, it includes a performance picture which I have used a flashing overlay, which I think makes it more exciting because it could be photos at a show? It can also act as thunder if we are able to tone down the brightness of the flashes. I have also made the exposure higher and the saturation higher to give it a very warm effect. In the second picture I have used an image picture where I have turned down the exposure and have added the window rain overlay to make it seem more miserable.

In this video, the beginning of the music video, it contains a split screen which is the same as my performance edit. The only difference is that this shows a low brightness clip and a brighter high exposure clip either side. It is also showing different locations, whereas I edited my split screens to make it look like we were all standing together singing. To improve mine I could look at blending the colours together to make it look more connected rather than looking 'blocky'.
